Jim Wynorski is the king when it comes to cult films. Since 1984, he has made over 100 movies. One of those movies is a remake of the 1950s s-f classic Attack of the 50 Foot Woman. And though there are similarities, it is clear that the 50 Foot Camgirl is not nearly as innovative as its predecessor. It's a sloppy schlocky affair and resembles some of its B-movies. Although it does have some good moments, it's not that different from its ilk.
While it does have its moments of humor, the film fails to live up to its promise to be a cult classic. For starters, the premise of the film is a bit of a stretch. The film is about an innocent young woman who becomes a giantess after being trapped in her house. Not only is this a ridiculous premise, but there's no reason for it to work. Additionally, the movie has a small budget and uneven pacing. This, along with a lackluster originality, make the film difficult to pass.
There's a talented cast to be positive. The title characters are played by Eli Cirino, Christine Nguyen, Becky LeBeau, and Lauren Parkinson. There's even a guest star in the form of Jessica Chastain, who plays a rival to the lead. Despite having a stellar cast, the movie is slow at times. The performances don't always show the right balance of attack and woodenness. Although it's not the greatest film, it is one that will be loved by many.

There are better ways to spend money. You could invest in a copy of Attack of the 50 Foot CamGirl on DVD, or you can try streaming it on the popular VOD platform Full Moon with Subscription. You could also check out other cult movies. Destruction Damsels is one of my favorite films.
Another reason to see Attack of the 50 Foot CamGirl? It's a parody of other B movies. The camera angles are not flattering to the leads and it's hard to tell who is taller: the giantess, or the teen-ager, as with the previous film. This film is not the best way to spend a night in with your family. The film's sexy moments can be a treat and the film is a clever tribute to the genre.
Attack of the 50 Foot CamGirl may not be a classic, but it's still a worthwhile watch. It is available for digital purchase through Amazon and Prime Video, as well as renting it via the VOD platform. If you are looking to get into the cult vibe, you can also visit Full Moon Features, a Charles Band-run website.
Despite its flaws, 50 Foot CamGirl has a lot of fun and will likely be a sequel. If you're a fan of the genre, however, you should definitely support amateur creators.
